The popularity of running hardshell bodies in slot car drag racing grew to unprecedented heights in the late 1990’s.  About that time, a group of local Southern California area racers drew up rules for a new class based on NHRA’s Competition Eliminator. Beginning at the venerable Eagle Motorplex in Downey, CA, the roots of the SCCEC were laid down, running monthly races to satisfy the appetite of the members of the newly created club.

Following the closure of the Eagle Motorplex in 1998, the SCCEC disbanded.  However, a short-lived revival in 2003 at Buena Park International Raceway (BPIR) brought a new generation of racers to try their hand at the “thinking man’s class.”  Unfortunately for the SCCEC, as the club was picking up steam in 2004, personal commitments stood in the way of some key members in charge of organizing and directing SCCEC events.  The club again disbanded.

Fast-forward to August, 2008.  With the current state of slot car drag racing and in order to help bridge the gap between index and heads-up racing, three charter members of the original SCCEC have resurrected the club once again, determined to make the club bigger, and better than ever.  The SCCEC has added dozens of all new classes for 2008, bringing the total up to 54, with the inclusion of new chassis/body combinations, as well as new motor combinations.

Although headquartered in Southern California, the SCCEC looks to add member tracks and racers from all geographic regions.  To be part of the SCCEC, please fill out the free form in the “Join the SCCEC” section of this website.  Questions can be directed to info@socalcompeliminator.com.
